Hoboken Architect Wins a Smart Growth Award for Maxwell Place

Hoboken-based architecture firm Dean Marchetto Architects PC, recently won a Smart Growth Award from New Jersey Future for its latest project, Maxwell Place on the Hudson at 11th Street on the waterfront. The site had been the former home of the old Maxwell Coffee House factory and Elysian Fields where the first modern baseball game was played.

City officials have been said that the award was given for the firm’s ability to open space and livability in the city of Hoboken.

The luxury complex at 1025 and 1125 Maxwell Lane has the advantage of being near mass transportation and the waterfront walkway, as well as having commercial retail space on lower levels, along with residential units upstairs.

Marchetto has said, “The fewer cars people use – the more we can move toward a pedestrian-oriented, walkable city – the more we can get along.”

The Hoboken Brownstone Company commissioned the Maxwell Place Plan from Dean Marchetto Architects, and Toll Brothers/Pinnacle Development Company has built two of the project’s planned four blocks.

One the entire project is completed, the complex will have 832 residential units, 1,398 parking spaces and 219,426 square feet of commercial space.

Hoboken is always improving and changing, which makes it such a great place to live.
